Anecdote: A city that made an impression

Here's a second anecdote. This time you'll be listening to Michael, who's the director at the British Council, talking about Bangkok. Here are the links:

Please let me know how you get on. Perhaps the worksheet was a bit too easy?

Have you seen some cultural events or have you tasted some typical food? In that case, do you recommend it?

I have enjoyed the listening because even thouth I did not heart it very well the spelling is very clear. It seems that Michael likes the place and at the time he makes us to enjoy it.

he says in the listening that the first time he went to bangkok was in 1986 and in the worksheet´s answers this is not correct. the question should be :when was his last visit to Bangkok?

I have never been so far, so I would like to ask him if he know any family there and if he have had the opportunity to live with it. What kind of food do they eat in their homes? Do they use forks, tables, and so on? What is the rol of the woman inside of their homes? The actitudes of the family members are different according to the place they are (home-street)?

Thanks for your questions.

Thai people place a great importance on being calm and polite and can be very charming - but in the end they are as good and as bad as you and me.

I love Thai food. Lots of lemon grass, coriander, cocnut milk and chili. Beware. Its hot!

The King of Thailand in the 19th century wanted to "modernise" and banned chopsticks. But they found a knife and fork wasn't very successful.Thais eat with a fork on one side of the plate and a spoon on the other.

The last time I was there was in 2003.

It seems to be an amazing place to visit. I will like to know if you need special vaccines before going there.
